Theater I –

Theater I is a fun, exciting way to explore the dramatic arts. This elective course will assist students in creating and defining personal objectives. Drama also acclimates students to classic acting training exercises, introduces them to the history of theater, including various genres and forms of drama, teaches basic stagecraft and the production process, allows students to develop mature opinions and detailed thoughts by reading plays of historical significance, and increases their character develop and growth through creative  journaling. Students will demonstrate their abilities in these skills through daily participation, small group projects and class activities, and performances. By earning points for their work, students will also have a chance to become inducted into ITS, The International  Thespian Society.

Theater II – IV

Theater II-IV are performance-based acting classes, assisting students in the production process. Students will learn basic technical theater techniques, classic acting training exercises, directing, and some theater history. Students will participate in individual and group projects and will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at District events and productions on the mainstage. By earning points for their work, students will also have a chance to become inducted into ITS, The International
Thespian Society.

Please be advised: Students in this class will be expected to particpate in the out of school productions.

Musical Theater –

Musical Theater is an audition/invite only Drama course. Combining skills in three disciplines, acting, singing, and dancing, students have an opportunity to showcase their talents and discover new ones. This course will familiarize students with the tools needed to build key musical theater arts skills. Students will receive instruction in the history of theater and musical theater, classic acting training exercises, production techniques, basic and advanced dance, basic and advanced voice, and other theater conventions. Select candidates will demonstrate their abilities in these skills through integrative performances, group projects, competitions and acting training activities. By earning points for their work, students will also have a chance to become inducted into ITS, The International  Thespian Society.

Please be advised: This is a performance class that travels to gigs in and out of school, as well as on weekends. These gigs are not optional.
